My rating: Shazam!
This is one of the best shows Marvel has ever made.

I was not looking forward to this show at all, I had no expectations for it and quite honestly, I know little to nothing about Wonder Man. But this show was marvelous (pun intended).
The basic premise is about Simon Williams, an up and coming actor who is looking for his big role. He overthinks everything, even his very small roles, tries to dissect everything in hopes of making a better character. But he has had a secret for a long time, and his stressful life as an actor does not help him with keeping his secret. He befriends Trevor Slattery, a failed actor, who is looking for redemption and hoping to step back into his true passion, acting.
The first couple of episodes were phenomenal, this show makes you forget its in the Marvel universe, and focuses on two struggling actors who love their art and want to bring it to the big screen. But everyday life and demons from their past bring them down. They create a beautiful friendship and try to find their way in the Hollywood scene. In my opinion, the theme of superpowers, superheroes, and the Marvel universe finds a way to work around the clear and present issues of Simon and Trevor finding their path in the acting world.
In the later episodes, it slowly starts to come back into the superhero world and Simon’s powers start to become an important plot piece.
When this show focused on Simon and Trevor’s friendship, their genuine love for acting, that’s when it thrived the most. When the show diverted to the superhero and superpowers aspect of the show, was when it wasn’t as strong.
I do not know how they will move forward with Simon’s character as Wonder Man, and I’m kind of scared of how Marvel will use him in the future but I look forward to his return. I definitely don’t see how Trevor will be used in future products, but I look forward to see where he goes from here.
There was only one episode I did not like and it’s the “Doorman” episode. You can skip that entirely, and it won’t mean a thing.
This show was amazing, and a genuine fresh take in general in the Marvel Universe.
I absolutely loved it and it is and will be in the best shows I’ve seen this year.
